"Doug Aitken's Black Mirror is an exploration of contemporary life on the fringes of society. The central character, played by Chloë Sevigny, exists in a world that has lost track of information and is saturated with change. The individuals that inhabit this world are the people we pass by at airport terminals, in hotel lobbies, and at car rental kiosks. They find and lose each other over and over in this digital wilderness... communications in quick pulses and traveling long distances for short meetings. For them, there is only now.

Debuting in 2011 at Deste Foundation Center for Contemporary Art's restored and renovated former slaughterhouse on the greek island of Hydra, Black Mirror takes the shape of a site-specific, multi-channel video installation, shot in and around Athens and Hydra, as well as Cancun, Mexico; Albuquerque and Gallup, New Mexico; Flagstaff and Arcosanti, Arizona and Palm Springs, California."
